Take Atlanta Back!

…back before Atlanta government, county run elections, or the airport were considered synonymous with incompetence, corruption, and debauchery…back when children didn’t have parties at sterile fun zones and entertainment centers, but with their family, friends, and neighbors at their homes (before `takeovers’)…back before someone thought it was good idea that Atlanta be known as the ‘strip club capital of the world, and ‘Magic City Night’ at the Hawks game a good marketing strategy…back when ‘Freaknik’ was a sarcastic and amusing title for an AUC college reunion weekend, not an invitation to public immorality and debauchery…

Communities of Faith Corner

Communities of faith are key to the success of Black Atlanta and the African American community at large. The quality of our economic, political, and cultural activities, as well as our family and community life are only as good as the sincerity of our faith. The majority of African Americans are Christian, Muslim, or some variety of Judaism, and we draw membership from many in metro Atlanta of diverse faith traditions. This is reflected in our ‘Communities of Faith’ corner quarterly. It is important to note that a significant portion of individual mental health and stability, as well as positive family and community engagement stems from relationships fostered, developed and bolstered within religious communities of faith. Many if not most of the greatest African American singers realized their talent in the choirs of their local church. Jessye Norman, grand dame of Wagnerian and German repertoire got her start right in the local Black churches of the Augusta area. Do you want to see your church, mosque, or temple highlighted in communities of faith corner? Become a member and tell us why?
